Repair or replace a water-treatment system
Compare a documented diagnosis and lifecycle cost before accepting an upgrade proposal.
Establish the fault
Save make, model, service history and relevant untreated/treated readings. A worn component, depleted media and an unsuitable original design require different responses. Ask the provider to explain which condition was confirmed and which is only suspected.
Compare both scopes
A repair quote should identify parts, labor and verification. A replacement quote should specify the new model, supported performance, plumbing changes, disposal, startup and recurring supplies. Determine whether repairing the existing unit leaves a known capacity, flow or service-access limitation.
Account for future support
Check availability of parts and consumables, warranty terms and expected service costs. Do not assume that a newer unit saves a stated amount of money without measured operating data. Keep the accepted diagnosis and the post-work readings together. Supplier reporting is context rather than proof that either unit works at your home.
